You don’t have to quit anything when you accept Jesus as Lord, not unless you want to.  Accepting Jesus as your Lord is an addition and it tends to lead to multiplication; there is no mandatory subtraction.

        Now, when a person belongs to Christ and is firm in his love and faith in Jesus he becomes a new creation; he is born again.  This is a spiritual rebirth, the body doesn’t change.  So, he is now a new person having a new Spirit and a new nature, the spirit encompasses the nature of the person.  Now, the desires of the person, you, are changed:  Do you want to do all the things you used to do anymore?

 

        Like I said, you don’t have to give up or quit doing anything, but you may want to.

        Several years ago in Oregon I encountered a young man.   He told me that some people came to his house and told him that to join the church, become a Christian (make Jesus his Lord), he would have to give up some things.  I told him that was ridiculous; I told him that he didn’t have to if he didn’t want to, and God wouldn’t make him.

        Do you want to please God?  Find out what God likes by reading the Bible then you make the changes that you and God agree upon.
